Circuit vs PT: The Geelong Smart Mix
You do not have to choose between group classes and one to one coaching. Use each for what it does best and you will progress faster with less guesswork. In Geelong, busy weeks, family life and changing energy are normal. A flexible mix lets you keep moving without overthinking the plan.
What You Get from Each
Circuit
Variety, community and a balanced mix of strength and cardio in one class. Sessions run at a steady pace, stations are guided and there is always a scale that fits your level. Expect 30-45 minutes that lift your mood and build all round fitness.
Personal Training
Targeted attention on your technique, goals and history. We fix small details that unlock efficient lifting, better posture and confident progression. PT is where we set baselines, plan your next steps and solve the little snags that classes cannot address in real time.
A Blend
At Team McLean Fitness Club our Personal Training memberships offer a BONUS group fitness class. This included class on top of x2-3 PT sessions a week supports you implement a constant routine.

Circuit builds capacity. PT sets direction. Together they create steady changes.
When to Lean into PT
- You are learning key lifts and want clear form cues
- You are returning from time off or a niggle and need a safe ramp
- You have a deadline, like a fun run or a busy work season
- You feel stuck at the same dumbbell or kettlebell for weeks
In these phases, one focused PT block can refresh your plan, refine your movement and give you a clean target for the next month.
When to Lean into Classes
- You need routine, social energy and stress relief
- You want fitness you can feel in day to day life
- You prefer guided variety over long solo sessions
- Your diary is tight and you need a set start and finish
Classes keep you consistent, which is the real driver of results. They also expose you to different patterns so your body stays adaptable.

How to Make the Mix Work
Bring the same simple habits to both settings. Arrive a few minutes early. Share any tight spots so we can adjust exercises accordingly. Work to the sessions goals, each session has an outcome that we will reach. Stretching release at the end (my favourite part)
What to Notice
Look for signs that happen in daily life- Carrying shopping feels easier, hills and stairs are less of a puff, shoulders sit lower at your desk, your sleep is deeper and mornings feel less stiff. These are the markers that tell you your plan fits your body and your week.
The smart mix is simple. Let classes build your engine and let PT steer the wheel. Over a month you will feel more capable, more coordinated and more confident in how you move.
