Kristen’s Journey from Corporate to Fitness Expert in Geelong

In 2018, Kristen McLean founded Team McLean Fitness Club with a vision to transform lives through supportive, high-quality, and educational fitness experiences. But before becoming the inspiring coach she is today; Kristen walked a challenging path of self-discovery and personal transformation. Her journey from a corporate desk job to leading one of Geelong’s most supportive fitness clubs is a testament to the power of dedication, perseverance, and a passion for helping others.

The Turning Point

Kristen’s story begins with a familiar struggle. After graduating from university in 2006, her lifestyle became sedentary as she juggled full-time work and late nights. The rigors of desk life took their toll, leaving her feeling physically and mentally drained, overweight and unhappy. By 2007, Kristen realised she was the heaviest and least healthy she’d ever been. This moment of self-reflection became the catalyst for change.

Driven to reclaim her health, Kristen made a bold decision. In 2008, she enrolled in the Victorian Fitness Academy, earning her Certificate III and IV in Fitness while working full-time as a graphic designer. Despite the demands on her time, Kristen immersed herself in fitness, shadowing personal trainers, volunteering at local gyms, and rediscovering her love for physical activity through sports and fitness clubs.

From Passion to Profession

It wasn’t an easy leap. Personal training is a competitive field, and Kristen wanted to ensure she had the skills and experience to truly make a difference. She spent years honing her craft, leading after-hours fitness sessions for colleagues and volunteering in Belmont’s fitness community. Slowly but surely, her confidence grew.

By 2018, Kristen was ready to step out on her own. Combining her personal experiences with her fitness expertise, she launched Team McLean Fitness Club with a mission to empower people to live balanced and healthy lives. Her club’s core principles are simple yet impactful: educate, support, and inspire real people to achieve real results.
