Self care is not selfish
Have you heard the phrase “You cannot fill from an empty cup” Well its true.
How can one expect to look after family, household, perform at the workplace and manage life’s expectations, when you are on you last legs with not only physical but mental energy?
Stop. Take a minute. And think….
Are you looking after yourself?
How far you are being pushed?
Are you pushing yourself?
Are you stretching yourself too thin to be across everything?
Is your time being spent in the areas that you want?
What tasks make you happy or sad, feeling accomplished or frustrated?
Can you delegate tasks out?
Are you willing to let go of particular tasks and delegate?
How much do you value your time?
Are you going to make time for yourself?
Do you love yourself enough to make time for you?
Can you commit to your self care as much as you are to your other responsibilities?
Are you going to be in the same position as you are now in 2 months time?
Are you willing to do what needs to be done to create real change?
As heavy as these questions are – Self care and an action plan doesn’t have to be soo dramatic.
It can be simple as
- Taking 30 mins every day to go for a walk
- Sit in a quiet room and play some music
- Read a few pages out of that book you have been meaning to start
- Text or call a friend and get some coffee
- Book in a massage or a day spa once a month
- Get your hair cut/coloured, mani / pedi
- Do what ever feels right for you
Start slow and easy but make it continuous; not a once off but really commit to it. No compromises. It takes approx. 28 days to create a habit or change. That’s only 4 weeks. You can do it, if you really want it enough.
